GE Supply Chain Gets World's Largest SaaS
Friday November 14, 2008
As corporations grapple with understanding how Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) can reduce technology costs in their supply chain, the company with probably the most complex supply chain in the world has taken the leap and implemented a SaaS based global Supplier Information Management (SIM) solution. General Electric (GE) recently implemented the system which, by year end, will offer all of its 500,000 vendors a self-service interface so they can maintain the information that GE procurement department requires them to provide.
The web-based solution, built by the software company Aravo, requires suppliers to enter their information, allowing GE to realize considerable savings in resources. In this difficult business environment companies will be monitoring the relative success of GE’s SaaS implementation as pressure to reduce supply chain costs becomes more intense across industries.
