2008-2009 Canadian Manufacturers Survey

Thursday December 18, 2008
In the 2008–2009 Management Issues Survey by Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME), results from over 1200 companies were compiled for a variety of questions relating to business confidence and issues affecting Canadian manufacturers. The survey gives readers a clear insight into how manufacturers and exports feel about the current economic climate and issues that affect their growth, such as export development, global sourcing and innovation.

Respondents indicated that there were 18 challenges hindering businesses from achieving an efficient and effective supply chain. Out of the challenges identified, five were mentioned significantly more than others. These were forecasting and demand planning, timely deliveries, volatile pricing, transportation and finally, managing costs.
