ERP Projects Are Late And Over Budget. Surprised?

Thursday January 15, 2009
For anyone who has been part of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) project, the findings of a report from the Panorama Consulting Group will be of no surprise. Their report found that reveals that 93% of implementations take longer than originally planned. In addition they found that 59% of projects exceed the allocated budget.

The report also found that the major challenge for over a third of all projects is a lack of employee buy-in, while another third identified the lack of ERP expertise. Unfortunately the report is based on data over the last 3 years from over 1300 projects at different sized firms, across all industries. Although the report findings do not distinguish between ERP software or geographical location, these findings are not encouraging for any ERP project manager.
