Happy 10th Birthday, Salesforce.Com

Wednesday March 18, 2009
It feels like only yesterday when Salesforce.com launched its software-as-a-service (SaaS) product to compete against the traditional Customer Relationship Management (CRM) players back in 1999, like Siebel and Epiphany. But here we are after 10 years and Salesforce.com has survived the dot.com bubble and all the naysayers who said that companies would never put their trust in a on-demand CRM.

In those 10 years Salesforce.com has grown to eclipse $1 billion in revenue, registering over 55,000 customers with an excess of a million and a half subscribers. It is now included in the S&P 500 as of November 2008 and led the way for other SaaS businesses such as the on-demand accounting software firm, Aqilla, and Vocus, who provide on-demand software for Public Relations Management.
