Reasons To Be Cheerful

Monday June 1, 2009
Panjiva, the leading source of objective information on global manufacturers, released its analysis of April shipments to the US. Panjiva found that the number of manufacturers shipping to American customers increased for the second month in a row after four months of decline. The increases month on month, February to March and March to April, were 2% and 8% respectively.

Although these figures are promising, Panjiva offer caution as Chinese authorities suggest that, on a seasonally adjusted basis, April was worse than March. In addition the risk for companies engaged in global trade remains high as the percentage of significant manufacturers on the Panjiva Watch List edged up from 30% in March to 31% in April.
