Tire Recycling Comes to Las Vegas

The first tire recycling facility in Nevada has been completed in Las Vegas. The recycling plant cost Phoenix Recycling Technologies (PRT) $5.5 million, but it can process more than two million car and truck tires per year. The facility can recycle virtually all of the material and the recycled rubber is used in a wide variety of applications such as the rubberized asphalt paving process, infill material for sport fields and the manufacturing of molded rubber products.

The plant opening could not have come at a better time for the state of Nevada as the state just passed legislation that stopped the land-filling of whole tires and requiring all tires to be recycled.
