A good week for ERP vendors as SAP and Epicor both saw increased sales for their products. SAP saw their profits rise to $491 million, a very healthy 15 percent increase in the second quarter based on good sales revenue from the US. SAP's sales revenue in the US was almost thirty percent higher than the same quarter last year. Similar figures were posted in Asia Pacific where sales grew 26 percent. The only downside to the overall success was a meager five percent gain in Europe and the Middle East. Despite being an ERP vendor for the small and medium business market, Epicor reported that their sales had also increased. Overall revenue jumped nine percent over the same quarter last year, with improvements in consulting and hardware sales. The company's overall loss is reducing overall, with a net loss of $1 million compared with a loss of almost $7 million for the same quarter last year.
These figures do show that companies are indeed opening their pocketbooks a little wider than last year as they begin to prepare for an inevitable improvement in economic conditions.
