In response to a potential strike the minority government has asked military personnel to take driver training classes to assist with fuel deliveries if a strike was to take place. Drivers are taking no chances and are stockpiling fuel, despite calls from politicians to refrain from doing so. Demand for fuel has been rising at over 170 percent per day since a strike vote was passed.
Lengthy queues of vehicles were to be found at gas stations across the UK, with pumps running dry at hundreds of locations. However the leading UK motoring agency, the Automobile Association (AA) blames the problem on the government saying the unnecessary and self-inflicted shortages are due to poor advice given by government officials.
