The recently announced merger between warehouse software vendor RedPrairie, and supply chain software vendor, JDA, could be great news for other companies in that sector, such as Manhattan Associates. It is reported that RedPrairie is going to pay almost $2 billion for JDA, which in turn paid $345 million for supply chain software vendor, i2 Technologies, back in 2010 and $211 million for Manugistics back in 2006. With JDA's track record of slow paced integration with acquired companies, it is possible that the JDA/RedPrairie combination could take some time to gel. If that happens with this merger then customer service could slip and impatient customers could be lured away to warehouse software firms like Manhattan Associates or HighJump.
