green freight For freight companies in Europe there is a resource that they can use to input operational data necessary to calculate, validate, and benchmark the environmental performance of their transport operations. Green Freight Europe (GFE) provides a single location where freight companies can enter all their information to calculate their carbon emission performance. Each carrier will receive a score and a benchmark against similar operations.

To ascertain their environmental performance a company needs to enter information such as liters of fuel consumed, type of vehicle used and distances driven and details on the transport service provided including loading levels and load types. The data can then be compared against other companies of a similar size and operation, so there can be accurate comparison between companies. Currently GFE are concentrating on CO2 emissions, as it makes up the majority of Greenhouse Gases (GHG), but Nitric Oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) measurements will be offered soon.

In Europe the freight companies actually care about emissions so websites and organizations that you mention are great tools to help freight companies to decide who much poisons go into the sky as greenhouse gases or NoX or other gases.
