Companies that use pallets in their warehouse will use traditional wooden pallets ninety percent of the time, according to the National Wooden Pallet and Container Association (NWPCA). However, over the last few years the use of plastic pallets has become more common, as they can offer some advantages over wooden pallets, such as additional load bearing and the resistance to mold, mildew and bacterial. But along comes a pallet that will give companies another option; pallets made from aluminum. The lightweight recycled aluminum pallet, manufactured by companies such as Eco Aluminum Pallets, can be used for loads up over 50,000 pounds, which is over forty times that of a wooden pallet and more than double the load for the best plastic pallets. The lifespan of the aluminum pallet made from recycled aluminum can be as long as ten years, which is as much as ten times the lifespan of a plastic pallet. The cost of purchasing aluminum pallets is significantly more than wooden pallets, but with leasing and their lifespan benefits, some companies may see a considerable benefit in going to the metal.
