CEVA Logistics Wins Lean And Green Award
Monday December 8, 2008
Another example of cost saving whilst moving towards a green supply chain was rewarded in October at the 2008 Lean and Green Awards. The Dutch forum, Connekt that promotes smart and sustainable logistics gave an award to the British company CEVA Logistics for their best practice example of a CO2 friendly supply chain redesign for one of their customers, the Finnish power solution company, Wärtsilä.
CEVA used Supply Chain Optimization software to make detailed analysis of all of Wärtsilä’s shipments. It calculated the estimated CO2 emissions based on the weight of shipments, the distance between warehouses and the transportation mode. Wärtsilä then made logistics decisions to reduce CO2 emissions and reduce energy costs.
